PLA                                                                polyactic acid                                                                                   

PLA (from the English word "polylactic acid") is a biodegradable plastic (biopolymer), which is produced from renewable raw materials - such as corn starch or sugar cane. Chemically, PLA belongs to the group of polyesters and consists of many lactic acid monomers strung together. Polylactides are produced by catalytic ring-opening polymerization of lactide molecules or by esterification of lactic acid monomers. Typical PLA products are packaging materials, films, cans, trays or cups.

ASA                                                              Acrylnitril-Styrol-Acrylat                                                             

The ASA material is an amorphous thermoplastic similar to ABS. The main difference between the two is that ASA is an acrylic elastomer and ABS is a butadiene elastomer. ASA is a petroleum derivative and is considered an engineering plastic because it maintains its appearance and impact resistance under adverse conditions such as air, rain, cold, heat, and so on. For this reason, it is often used in everyday items that need to be more resistant, such as electrical equipment, car parts or even toys.

ASA

ABS                                                      Acrylnitril-Butadien-Styrol                                                             

The addition of acrylonitrile makes ABS particularly resistant to oils, greases and high temperature. ABS is normally flammable and emits dark smoke smelling of smoldering plastic, which should not be inhaled. Probably the most important properties of ABS are its high achievable stiffness, toughness and strength. The overall package is rounded out by very good impact and scratch resistance. Moderate weather resistance is one of the few disadvantages, and yet this is still many times higher than, for example, PLA. Weaknesses are mainly found in the low UV resistance, which causes ABS to yellow quickly and also become brittle under too long UV influence. Those looking for a more UV-resistant variant should take a look at ASA.
Due to these properties, ABS is suitable for many different applications in model making, the precision mechanics and electrical industries or the automotive industry.

ABS

PC blend

PC Blend is perfect for stronger, more durable 3D prints. It is an excellent choice for printing mechanically stressed parts. Compared to other materials, PC Blend is resistant to high temperatures.

PC Blend is recommended for experienced 3D printer owners looking for a strong, durable material for prototyping and functional parts, as well as thermally and mechanically stressed components.

Policarbonate is very durable. PC is used, for example, in the production of bulletproof glass and CDs. It can also be bent in the cured state without breaking or shattering.

Evonik launched the thermoplastic elastomer polyether block amide (PEBA) in 1979. To mark its birthday, PEBA powder is now available for 3D printing. Compared to PLA, it is more heat-resistant, more flexible, and less brittle.

TPU 72 Sh A is our softest and most flexible material for printing.

It is stretchable up to 900% and can be compared to silicone by some behaviors.


This superelastic material is well very suitable to check the installation of future seals or a first feeling in the design of new components.
